Day 2 : Halifax
Today is at leisure to explore Halifax, a city that combines both modern and heritage buildings, and has one of the world’s largest natural harbours. Day 3 : Peggy's Cove • Lunenburg
Drive to Lunenburg visiting Peggy’s Cove en route, a small coastal village with houses built right into the granite rock. On arrival in Lunenburg, stay overnight at the Mariner King Inn. During the afternoon we recommend exploring the Unesco-listed old town of this delightful fishing village. (B)
Day 4 : Annapolis Royal
Cross the peninsula to the quaint seaside town of Annapolis Royal. En route, we suggest visiting Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site, renowned for its wilderness of lakes and rivers. Stay 2 nights at Hillsdale House Hotel. (B)
Day 5 : Bay of Fundy
Drive to Brier island (approximately 2.5 hours) for a shared whale-watching cruise in search of the vast array of marine wildlife found in the nutrient-rich waters of the Bay of Fundy. (B)
Day 6 : St Andrews-by-the-Sea
Drive to Digby this morning and cross the Bay of Fundy by car ferry to St Andrews in the province of New Brunswick. On arrival, stay 2 nights at The Algonquin Resort. (B)
Day 7 : St Andrews-by-the-Sea
Today is at leisure to explore St Andrewsby-the-Sea. Highlights of the coastal town include Minister’s Island, the Atlantic Salmon Interpretive Centre and the award-winning Kingsbrae Garden.
Day 8 : Shediac
Drive east today to Shediac, known locally as the ‘lobster capital of the world’. En route, we suggest visiting Magnetic Hill winery or the interesting rock formations at Hopewell Rocks, where the power of the sea in the Bay of Fundy is most evident as it experiences the highest tides in the world. On arrival in Shediac, stay overnight at Shediac Hotel.
Day 9 : Charlottetown
Travel over the 13-km-long Confederation Bridge to Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island. On arrival, stay 2 nights at The Great George. (B)
Day 10 : Charlottetown
Spend the day exploring Charlottetown. We recommend visiting Province House National Historic Site, where the meetings were held that led to the formation of Canada in 1867. Alternatively, drive north to Prince Edward Island National Park for a walk along the sand dunes and beaches. (B)
Day 11 : Baddeck
Return to Nova Scotia today, crossing the Northumberland Strait by car ferry and continuing to Cape Breton island. On arrival at the bustling village of Baddeck, stay 2 nights at Inverary Resort. (B)
Day 12 : Baddeck
The day is at leisure to explore the surrounding landscapes with the renowned Cabot Trail easily accessible from here. We recommend visiting Cape Breton Highlands National Park, a beautiful park with more than 20 walking trails.
Day 13 : Halifax
Return to Halifax today, travelling along the scenic Bras d’Or Lakes drive to the Canso Causeway. On arrival in Halifax, stay overnight at The Halliburton.
Day 14 : Onward travel
Return your hire car to the airport today and fly to your next destination. (B)
