Day 1 : Fly to Managua
Fly to Managua. Transfer to the Elements Hotel Boutique for 1 night.
Day 2 : To León
Transfer to Leónvia the ruins of LeónViejo (Old León) and the geothermal mud pools at nearby San Jacinto. In León,take a guided tour of the churches and cathedral in the colonial centre, the Ruben Dario museum and an art gallery. Stay 2 nights at Hotel El Convento. (B, L)
Day 3 : León
Day at leisure. Optional excursions include a hike on the Cerro Negro Volcano, a visit to the Botanical Garden at LeónUniversity or a tour to the Juan Venado Island nature reserve on the Pacific coast to look for birds, caimans and iguanas. Nesting sea turtles may be also be seen at Juan Venado (May to November). (B)
Day 4 : To Granada
Transfer to the colonial city of Granada, overlooking Lake Nicaragua, the tenth largest lake in the world. En route, visit the Masaya handicraft market and the Masaya Volcano. Stay at Dario Hotel for 3 nights. (B)
Day 5 : Granada
Morning tour of the city and a boat ride through the canals formed by the small islands in the lake. Afternoon at leisure or take an optional excursion such as a chocolate-making workshop. (B)
Day 6 : Granada
Day at leisure or take an optional excursion. Options include an easy hike to take in the views and nature from the trails around the summit of the Mombacho Volcano, or a full day excursion by road and ferry to beautiful volcanic Ometepe Island on Lake Nicaragua. It is also possible to overnight on Ometepe Island - please enquire for further details and prices.
Days 7 : Departure
Transfer by road to Managua for your flight to next destination. (B)
