Itinerary

Fly to Timisoara, via Bucharest. Afternoon city tour including Victory square, Baroque Palace and the Memorial Museum of the 1989 Revolution. Transfer to Altringen House for 2 nights. (D)

Full day visit to the picturesque town of Arad. There are excellent examples of art nouveau and baroque architecture within the old quarter of the town. (B, D)

Morning drive to visit the nature reserve of Deva and view the hill formed by volcanic activity over 10 million years ago. Continue to Hunedoara and Corvin Castle. The largest castle in eastern Europe, it is a mixture of gothic, renaissance and baroque in its design. Stay overnight at the Hotel Medieval in Alba Iulia. (B, D)

Morning walking tour of Alba Iulia including the Alba Carolina fortress. Continue to the town of Sibiu for a visit to the Bruckenthal Art Gallery and a walking tour of this medieval town which includes the main square, Liar's bridge and the Evangelical Church. Stay 1 night at Brukenthal Castle. (B)

Morning visit to Biertan to view its gothic fortified church. Continue to Sighisoara, a beautifully preserved medieval settlement and a Unesco world heritage site. The city walls encircle cobbled streets lined with 16th-century colourful burgher houses. Visits include the citadel, the Church on the Hill and the Clock Tower. Stay overnight at the Fronius Residence. (B, D)

Morning drive to Târgu Mures. Afternoon city tour including visits to the Cultural Palace, a flamboyant, early 20th-century city hall with an outstanding stained glass hall, and the Old Fortress. Stay overnight at the Hotel Plaza. (B)

Morning transfer to the airport and fly to your next destination via Bucharest. (B)
